CALLING ALL RECORDING ARTISTS

Edinburgh NightNews was recently invited by peoplesound.com to join their A & R referral staff and to invite musicians and artists we encounter to consider promoting, distributing and selling their music using the peoplesound website.

The peoplesound.com proposition is reproduced here on the Nightnews website as well - so artists can look at it anytime on the A&R page The service is entirely FREE to artists.

If artists are interested in this whole concept they should please let me know and send over any questions they may have. I will then tell them what they need to do to go ahead and mail over the peoplesound documentation.

I hope that artists will find this interesting and will consider using the peoplesound.com resources available through Nightnews. Its a great way for artists and new bands to market their work or distribute their music, in the whole of Europe as well as further afield.

Nightnews August Club Report

The Edinburgh Festival has sadly made many Edinburgh venues temporarily unavailable to our promoters. However Kero-Scene K2, Dysfunction plus Dysfunction Live and Club DKY continue as usual in Edinburgh with no entry or drinks prices increases reported. See our Edinburgh Events and Clubs pages.

Those interested in Gothic and alternative events over the summer months should check out Bedlam on our Glasgow Events and Clubs pages. They should also consider the festivals on the Links page.

'Sunshine Blind' Gig and New Edinburgh Goth Club, 'Skin Chamber' on Saturday June 17th
@ The Holyrood Union, Edinburgh.

'CyberSyn Industries' writes about the Gig, New Club, 'Skin Chamber' and future projects...

"The DJ`s are darkwave / industrial / electro orientated, there`ll be James from Ascension, myself - ex-Syndustry, possibly Inquity`s most notorious DJ - Jim Moyle and hopefully a DJ from Newcastle with Julia running her Underground Nation [clothes/CD`s] stall.

It`s a great venue with a big dancefloor with great lighting, and I`ll be launching `Skin Chamber` which is likely to be a series of one-off events and club nights rather than a regular club night.

The Sunshine Blind gig is a ~CyberSyn Industries~ and Ascension collaboration with Jim [Moyle] and I for ~CSI~ and James and Julia for Ascension...

It`s also on a non Mission Saturday which will be good as everyone descending down on the Cauldron is a bit much for [publican] Mark sometimes :)

If this event goes well, I`ll be hosting more club nights and events over the coming year in conjunction with various promoters. There are some great bands that I`ve been hoping to come up and play Scotland for some time now....."

New Edinburgh Clubs in early May & June

Yup, its been a busy time for NEW club launches here in Edinburgh. Goth club 'VAIN' had a first evening on the 19th May - it was very busy and the organisers got a round of applause at the end of an excellent night.

RITUAL is having another night in June but is still looking for a regular venue. This is a hugely popular club, their last night was an immense success and its good to have another non-Mission alternative club, out there brewing.. We all hope they will find a venue soon.

Lets not omit to support our established Edinburgh favorites like Ascension Goth Club, Kero-Scene - K2 and a few other good nights that have the full support of NightNews. Dysfunction & Anomalos are included in that; Dysfunction work really hard to bring their special mix of sounds and have more promotions than any other club I am aware of here in Edinburgh. Anomalos is a wee gem of a night for those that havent discovered it yet.

The Vampyres are out with a new eGroup (links page) and a new launch night, in Glasgow as well - its 'VAMPIRE INFERNO' - SLAVE nights go from strength to strength as well and if you like goth, watch out for Glasgows BEDLAM.

More details about these clubs and the Edinburgh alternative scene are circulated on a subscription basis from our NightNews eGroup, join and check out our archives from the links page.

cheers, and have more fun..

Dysfunction Report

I dropped into this club for the first time on Thursday 16 March, a bit late as its been going for over a year and I wish I had been sooner as well. So if you have not yet visited this club give it a thought as its a lot of fun. Kewl sounds, nice, good looking people, many familiar faces from the alternative scene in Edinburgh and some guest DJ's you will recognise from elsewhere.

The organisers felt it was untypically a quiet night but if this is quiet then they don't have much to worry about. Its not a cheap night though and I did'nt spot any offers at the bar after the relatively stiff midweek entry price - just call me cheap hehe! A good night out for about a tenner. Full details are on the events page.

Kero-Scene K2 Report

Also known as K2, this is an extreme metal club to be aware of in Edinburgh. At this club, every Wednesday night is a corpse paint night. A welcome alternative to those other clubs that have come to the end of the road. Featured in the List, Kerrang, Terrorizer and other good magazines. Eighty to one hundred midweek metal scene clubbers every week! Watch out for the new K2 galleries in the gallery submenu.
