# Latest From Will @ Earache

# 15 February 2006 16:57

- Satan's favourite band Deicide have declared 6.6.06 the release date for their upcoming album on Earache records. The album, titled OThe Stench Of Redemption¹, is tentatively set for release on the date that coincides with the mark of the beast.

The album is currently in the preliminary stages as the band are gearing up to enter the studios with Jim Morris of Morris Sound. The band have demoed 10 songs which Glen Benton is locked away preparing his signature twisted lyrics to coincide with the brutally heavy tracks.

This album marks the bands first recorded album with an all-new line-up who has been igniting audiences so far. The two-guitar attack of Deicide now comprises of Jack Owen of Cannibal Corpse fame and Ralph Santolla of Iced Earth and Death fame.

The band are very excited to release this album, as Glen Benton has reported that this is one of the best death metal albums in years. Initially, Benton reported that demos of the album had Earache head Digby Pearson banging his head and jumping up and down like a young metalhead.

The band are currently preparing for a South American stint that will send the band through 6 countries at a light-speed rate. Deicide is excited to reach their South American fans who have always gone crazy for the bands performances in the past. Speaking of that South American tour, some slight adjustments to the tour dates have been made which can be seen on the Earache tour dates page.

Following the release of OThe Stench Of Redemption¹ a full European tour is planned, continue to check Earache.com for details as they become available. Check out the band's all new Myspace site for their new upcoming album at - http://myspace.com/thestenchofredemption

- Norway's MORTIIS has begun writing for a planned 2006 follow-up to "The Grudge". The legendary eccentric artist has been collaborating with well-known producer Rhys Fulber (FEAR FACTORY, DELERIUM, FRONTLINE ASSEMBLY, PARADISE LOST) and is currently demoing material.

"On the new songs, we are focusing more on what I think got a bit lost last time, which is songwriting and continuity," said Mortiis. "Last time I was trying to make a really angry and abusive record, and I wanted to do everything at the same time because I wanted all this noisy stuff to happen.

The distorted noise, electronics, and samples are still there, but these songs are more focused and have a more coherent interaction between the programmed and the organic. They are definitely a lot more organic, and I am putting a lot of weight on guitars this time."

Some of the working song titles include: "The Ugly Truth", "Doppelganger", "Hard to Believe", "Zeitgeist", "Scolding the Burnt" and "Great Deceiver".

In other news, guitarist Åge Troite has replaced Åsmund Sveinunggard for live duties with MORTIIS. European and North American dates are being worked on at this time. MORTIIS recently released his first DVD, entitled "Soul in a Hole". The disc was filmed in 2004 in London during the two-month "The Unlimited Grudge Tour" with SUSPERIA. The DVD contains bonus videos, photo galleries, interviews, and other extras, in addition to live footage. http://www.earache.com/bands/mortiis/grudge_video/player.html

- Apocalyptic Swedish outfit Cult of Luna have completed work on their latest album entitled 'Somewhere Along The Highway'

Slated for an April 24th release date via Earache Records, the initial tracking took place over 7 days in a wooden octagon barn surrounded by "Blair Witch" scenery close to the bands hometown of Umeå in Northern Sweden. According to Magnus Lindberg the remote location coupled with the spotting of "Wicca witch women dancing in the woods" and the actual acoustics of the barn itself all contributed towards creating the perfect ambiance to lay down the basic tracks which were done primarily live, as a unit - a departure from previous Cult of Luna recording protocol.

Further recording and mixing happened in Tonteknik studios where both the bands 2004 album 'Salvation' and it's predecessor 'The Beyond' (2003) were recorded. And the result promises to more raw and unpolished then the bands previous releases.

Somewhere Along The Highway contains 7 tracks, namely: Marching To The Heartbeats Finland Back To Chapel Town And With Her Came The Birds Thirtyfour Dim Dark City, Dead Man

- THE BERZERKER will re-appear for rare UK-only dates, which will form their first shows ever unmasked. The touring Berzerker line up promises to be the greatest so far with 3 previous touring members -

Luke 'The Berzerker' Kenny - Vocals Matt Wilcox (now in Akercocke) - Guitar Sam Bean - Bass & Vocals Ed Lacey - recording guitarist from both "The Bezerker" and "World of Lies" albums.

And behind the kit... We are pleased to announce Blast Vader himself - Dave Gray from Akercocke on what could well be the toughest drumming assignment in extreme metal today. Early reports indicate that these will be heaviest, fastest and most insane Berzerker shows yet. The band would like to advise that attending these performances carries with it a risk of injury. This is not a musical event. This will be grind obliteration as never experienced before.

- After almost five years of existence, Beecher have announced that they are to play their final ever show on February 1st 2006 in their hometown of Manchester.

On the decision to wind up the band, vocalist Ed Godby comments: "The reason for the break-up is a combination of personal reasons that no one outside of our band needs to know, but rest assured now is the time.

We have made some great friends and fans along the way and to those people we give our sincere thanks. We hope our band will live on in your memories, as it¹s sure to in ours. # - CROWPATH ŒSon of Sulphur - set for European release in February

Swedish hardcore/grind mob Crowpath, release their second full length album,
OSON OF SULPHUR¹ in Europe as part of the Earache / Willowtip union on
February 13th 2006

The follow up to ORed On Chrome¹ was recorded at Berno Studios in Malmo (The
Haunted, Insision) and mastered by Scott Hull (Pig Destroyer) and is
rumoured to be a concept album based around the story of an arsonist and his
destructive impulses

Words of praise in the USA for OSon of Sulphur¹:

Ultimate Metal:
OThe flurry of chaotic instrumentation greets the listener, like always, in
a tornado-meets-a-hurricane-meets-a-tsunami type way, and these twelve songs
extricate the group¹s collective chops in order to proudly display them
alongside peculiar artwork. The technicality reigns supreme here it¹s
nearly an insurmountable task to try and distinguish between individual
parts and members, because there¹s so much going on.¹

Metal Review:
Crowpath¹s second effort shows that not only are the band more than capable
of replicating the addictive technical insanity of their fist album, but
also continuing to expand their sound without sacrificing a shred of what
makes this band such a promising monstrosity of extreme metal. For the
second year in a row, Crowpath has released one of the best albums you¹ll
hear all year.¹

Tracklisting:

01. Candles and Kerosene
02. The Will to Burn
03. Chased, Caught and Charged
04. Pigeonsmasher
05. Children of Boredom
06. Self Destructive Pessimist
07. Seed of Arson
08. Picked Clean
09. The Lycanthrope
10. Scab Coated Attraction
11. Lights Out, Left for Dead
12. End in Water

# - THE BERZERKER SHOOT NEW CLIP FOR 'ALL ABOUT YOU'

Without doubt one of the most extreme bands on the planet, The Berzerker
have once again upped the level of brain melting brutality on their
devastating new album OWorld Of Lies¹. In support of the new album the band

they have filmed since the band unmasked. Fans of The Berzerker can look
forward to yet another incarnation of the band¹s trademark dragon logo as it
is put through state of the art 3d animation and weaves throughout a
shredding performance from one of the most uncompromising bands in extreme
metal.

OWorld of Lies¹ will be released in the US on 13th December and in Europe on
30th January. The European release will be available as a limited edition
dualdisc; CD on one side and DVD on the other. The DVD side will feature an

INDIE911.COM’S INDEPENDENT ARTISTS THRIVE WITHOUT RECORD LABELS

HOLLYWOOD, CA – November 29, 2005 - These are uncertain times for the U.S. music industry. Substantially slowing CD sales, fledgling digital sales, massive piracy and controlled radio playlists have led to cutbacks across the industry, which has limited the number of new artists signed and developed by record labels. So how then did an unsigned band from rural Vermont manage to go on tour this summer with superstars like Dave Matthews, Taj Mahal and Trey Anastasio while managing to sell over $6,000 worth of music per month and top it off with a sold out tour grossing over $35,000 in a single week?

22 year old Grace Potter fronts a Hammond B3 organ fueled roots-rock quartet from Vermont known as Grace Potter & The Nocturnals; their stirring blend of talent and hard work has earned them a loyal audience that has been able to grow exponentially in part because of some heavy promotional help from a new online music company called indie911.com. Through digital downloads, a streaming music video they produced, and indie911’s Caffeinated Distribution service (a competitor to Starbucks’ Hear Music platform) indie911 has successfully marketed Grace Potter & The Nocturnals’ independent releases throughout the country. Indie911 was founded in March of 2004 by former Sony A&R executive Justin Goldberg as an alternative support system for artists between labels as well as those deliberately avoiding signing to major labels. Indie911.com now boasts over 3,000 artist members and handles various sales and promotional functions for musicians and labels including music sales, ringtones, online marketing and film & TV licensing.

Indie911 is unique in that it combines an extensive online social network with its emerging artist network. This enables its artists to interact directly with their audiences, who in turn help promote and digitally distribute the music and video they listen to most often as it becomes publicly playable on their own personalized pages.

Other artists, such as the UK based independent act The Cranes, have had success through indie911’s licensing platform, having earned a high five figure licensing fee for a song used in a worldwide American Express commercial featuring actress Kate Winslet. Free iTunes podcasts and daily free digital downloads are accessible to the public on http://www.indie911.com/

# - Blood Red Throne hit the UK

Spawned from frozen north, Norway, where the stark red of splattered blood on the snow can be a slightly more extreme and shocking sight when you are kneeling in it praying for your life, comes Blood Red Throne.

Following the release of their acclaimed Altered Genesis album in February, the band will bring their sick death metal to the UK as special guests to Mortician on:

3rd November 2005 The Underworld London (www.theunderworldlondon.co.uk)

Norway isn’t exactly known for death metal, especially not the bludgeoning American type. The deep guttural growls, the gurgling tuned down guitars, frantic vicious drumming and all the visceral chaos you’d expect from Florida - but this isn’t Florida is it? In fact, Norway is about as far removed from Florida that you can get - until now....

# - Season's End - 'The Failing Light' - Out Now

Released Monday 19th September 2005
MP3s / Video / Info: www.seasons-end.com

As of Monday 19th September, 'The Failing Light' is officially released in the UK. The album should be available from many stores across the country - if you have any troubles finding it then please order it in at the counter (If you need them. barcode cumber: 50601 097 90122 and catalogue number: SEASEND1). All copies available at the moment are the limited edition enhanced CD digipacks - these's are stricly limited so buy yours soon! These are also available online from Play.com, Amazon.co.uk and HMV.co.uk etc.

More details can be found on the website, http://www.seasons-end.com

The band have had many great reviews in the press for the album recently. Check out some of them on the web from Metal Monk (8 out of 10), Room Thirteen (12 out of 13), Musical Discoveries (4 out of 5), Metalism (9 out of 10), Live4Metal, Ultimate Metal (7.5 out of 10) and Rock 3 Radio (5 out of 5). There's also reviews in the latest issue of Fireworks and the coming issue of Kerrang (hopefully).

Season's End recently received a fantastic review in Kerrang, even out-rating the headliners on the main stage:

"Day two and with scores of hangover victims getting right back on their horses and medicating themselves with hair of the dog, it's not exactly the ideal setting for Hampshire goth metallers Season's End to be stealing the show with a jaw-dropping display of beautiful, elegant dark hymns. But that's just what they do, and by God do they do it well..."

the technological influences from bands such as "Nine Inch Nails".
Imagine a more subtle "Godflesh" with Gothic influences. However it is
their live shows where Corrision are at their most intense. Look out

## EARACHE NEW SIGNING - CANDIRIA by sarah@earache.com

Earache is extremely pleased to welcome legendary US evolutionists Candiria to the family as part of a deal that will see the band's latest album 'What Doesn't Kill You...' issued on Earache in Europe in May.

Candiria's previous releases showcased an eclectic mix of Metal, hardcore and jazz that preceded the current fashion for jazz-style complexity in what became termed 'noisecore', and offered listeners the opportunity to experience something genuinely different and refreshing. Having established a firm fanbase among open-minded music fans across the globe, Candiria were involved in a near fatal van crash in September 2002 while on tour.

Time passed slowly as the band recovered from the horrific fall out of the crash, but showed strength and courage in returning to the studio in 2004 to record the awesome new album, ironically titled 'What Doesn't Kill You...', going so far as to feature a photograph of their battered and broken van post-crash on the album sleeve.

Further unfurling Candiria's super-smooth, super-tight sound, the album sees the band mix just the right amount of old and new to create their best and most accessible work to date. Having ended 2004 touring the US with Killswitch Engage and Shadow's Fall, the band is back on the road, currently with American Headcharge and Otep.

Earache's Dan Tobin explains; "Candiria have always stood out as something very different within the rock and Metal scene, and Earache admired from a far their diversity, integrity and also now their professional and personal courage. When the opportunity came to work with the band, we jumped at the chance to work with a genuinely forward thinking act on what turned out to be simply an awesome record."

Drummer Kenneth Schalk comments, “We are blown away by Earache’s belief and understanding in the band. We can’t wait to get over there and tour the world.”

'What Doesn't Kill You...' is scheduled for a May release in Europe on Earache.
